We didn’t write this book as a cure. There are lots of books on the market that give you step-by-step instructions on how you could cure your porn addiction. Our premise? God created us to be individuals – what works for one may not work for another. Some people may find relief and strategies through counseling, therapy groups, accountability/mentorships, or writing a book. But the common denominator for freedom? Jesus.
There’s no formula here. There’s just our story, told with authenticity and honest. As much as Craig talks about his addiction to porn, Jen talks about her addiction to control. It took both of us surrendering our pain, hurts, and pasts to Jesus to figure out what makes us whole and how we could, together, overcome betrayal, distrust, and unforgiveness.
We want you to find hope in a dark and dismal situation. We want you to know you aren’t alone in this battle. And we want to encourage you to speak out about your brokenness, to each other and to people who will walk with you through this difficult time. There is freedom in bringing our darkness to light. What we try to hide in shame only ends up festering and bringing more pain. When we speak out our brokenness and expose it to light, we allow Jesus to touch it.
And He is the one who makes all things new. (Revelation 21:5)
